Jewellery is a special way to make a statement. Each piece of jewellery tells a personal story. A story of a person, time, place or memory.
Growing up in India, where you are immersed in rich culture, craftsmanship and artistry, fascination with jewellery was quite a natural thing. Adorning our outfits with matching jewellery, bangles and accessories was a passion. When we wanted a unique and distinct look or complete that traditional attire, we looked for accessories in different forms and designs.
The range of jewellery in India is so diverse, from traditional temple jewellery to the more contemporary pieces. Temple jewellery is heavily influenced by the south Indian culture and is made with precious metals and stones. Kundan and Meenakari are popular styles of jewellery from Rajasthan and Gujarat that involve intricate enamel work, and colourful gemstones.
Fashion jewellery has affordable versions of these styles with a wide range of designs. The colours and designs of Indian jewellery are unique and versatile to create a wide range of looks from rich festive to simple elegance.
When I lived in India, we would often go to the busy market stores and bylanes to shop for fashion jewellery and this slowly became a thing of the past after I moved to Australia.
I miss the experience of browsing and shopping in those alley ways and bylanes. I miss wearing those beautiful pieces of jewellery. And that was the inspiration to create Nyra.
Personally for me, being able to deliver a beautiful experience is just as important as the jewellery itself.
Nyra Jewellery attempts to bring little joys to your door step with curated unique and elegant collections so you can nurture your love for Indian jewellery along with an experience that you will cherish.
Yours truly,
Dhania (Founder, Nyra Jewellery)
